Alex Yang, violin and piano

It delights us to present Halifax musical prodigy, Alex Yang, performing a special pay-what-you-can concert on both piano and violin. Although only twelve-years-old, Alex's accomplishments are numerous. Earlier this year, Alex was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in NYC, having won the 1st Prize and Exceptional Young Musician Prize in the International Classical Music Competition. He captured the Canadian Sinfonietta Young Artist Competition and the regional RCM Gold Medalist in both piano and violin, and he won First Place in his piano and violin divisions at the Canadian Music Competition National Final and was declared unanimously the overall Grand Prize winner for all instruments in the age 7-10 category. For this special concert, Alex performs, on piano, Schubert's Impromptu Op. 90, No. 2, Beethoven's Sonata Op. 31 No. 2 “Tempest”, Chopin's Fantaisie-Impromptu Op. 66, and Nocturne Op. 27 No. 2, Rachmaninov's Prelude Op. 23 No. 5, and, on violin, Kreisler's Praeludium and Allegro.

Funds raised will go to Bravura Nova Scotia, a charity supporting excellence in the performing arts through prizes and scholarships to music students.

Nous avons le plaisir de vous présenter le prodige de la musique de Halifax, Alex Yang, qui donne un concert spécial payant au piano et au violon. Il a remporté le Concours canadien Sinfonietta pour jeunes artistes et la médaille d'or régionale du MRC en piano et en violon. Il a également remporté la première place dans ses divisions piano et violon lors de la finale nationale du Concours de musique du Canada et a été déclaré à l'unanimité gagnant du grand prix général pour tous les instruments dans la catégorie des 7-10 ans. Pour ce concert spécial, Alex joue, au piano, l'Impromptu op. 90 n° 2 de Schubert, la Sonate op. 31 n° 2 "Tempête" de Beethoven, la Fantaisie-Impromptu op. 66 de Chopin et le Nocturne op. 27 n° 2, le Prélude op. 23 n° 5 de Rachmaninov et, au violon, le Praeludium et l'Allegro de Kreisler.

Les fonds collectés seront versés à Bravura Nova Scotia, une organisation caritative qui soutient l'excellence dans les arts du spectacle en offrant des prix et des bourses aux étudiants en musique. Toutes les contributions de plus de 10 dollars recevront un reçu fiscal pour les dons d'une valeur supérieure à ce montant.
