ABOUT THIS CONCERT
The Strad has praised Ulysses String Quartet for its textural versatility, grave beauty, and gentle blanket of colour – adding that they have the "chops to back up their passion”. Among many accomplishments, the quartet won first prize in the 2018 Schoenfeld International String Competition and the grand prize and gold medal in the senior string division of the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Recently named Graduate String Quartet in Residence at the Juiliard School in New York City, the ensemble competed this past summer at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition. For this special concert, the award-winning quartet performs works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Ludwig Van Beethoven, as well as three beautiful Armenian folk songs arranged for string quartet.

Parmi de nombreuses réalisations, le quatuor a remporté le premier prix du Concours international Schoenfeld 2018, ainsi que le grand prix et la médaille d'or dans la division des instruments à cordes seniors du Concours national de musique de chambre Fischoff 2016. Récemment nommé Graduate String Quartet in Residence à la Juiliard School à New York, l’ensemble a participé cet été au Concours international de quatuor à cordes de Banff en 2019. Pour ce concert spécial, le quatuor primé interprète des œuvres de Franz Joseph Haydn, Dmitri Shostakovich et Ludwig Van Beethoven, ainsi que trois belles chansons folkloriques arméniennes arrangées pour quatuor à cordes.
